A Study in Omitted Narratives: Got to Get Down to Get Up (2006) This is the quintessential student narrative with a slight twist. Is it a movie about getting ready for bed or about getting ready for the day? Everything in this video was shot backwards and put in reverse during post-production. When making this video I considered the things that filmmakers choose to omit. Obviously in narrative a great deal is cut, but what makes it into the movie and why? I'm not considering grand histories. My concern is more about the small choices one makes when representing actions that seem insignificant. Should you include the shot of the human opening the door or the shot of the human closing the door? How about both? |
